Twaina Carpenter
Licensed Professional Counselor
I believe every person (and every relationship) is capable of growth and change.
Hi, I’m a retired United States Air Force veteran with 20 years of honorable service and over 15
years of experience as a counselor and therapist. My military background shaped who I am — it
taught me about resilience, teamwork, and how deeply experiences, especially traumatic ones,
can impact our mental and emotional well-being.
Because of that experience, I’m especially passionate about working with veterans and
individuals who have experienced trauma. I understand the culture, the stressors, and the
challenges that often come with service, both during and after military life. Whether you’re
dealing with past trauma, life transitions, relationship struggles, or feeling stuck, you don’t have
to carry it alone.
My background & approach
I also work with couples, teens (ages 13 and up), and adults from all walks of life. My goal is to
create a space that feels safe, supportive, and judgment-free — a place where you can show up as
you are and feel understood.
My approach to therapy is collaborative and flexible. I draw from evidence-based practices like
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
(CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), solution-focused therapy, mindfulness practices,
and traditional talk therapy. Together, we’ll figure out what works best for you and move at a
pace that feels right.
Outside of my professional life, I’m a proud parent of two grown children, which has deepened
my understanding of family dynamics, life transitions, and personal growth. I believe healing
happens through connection, trust, and consistent support, and I consider it a privilege to walk
alongside clients as they work toward healing and meaningful change
